 I strongly prefer Markdown for writing instead of the wiki syntax native to DokuWiki, and happily, the [[https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:commonmark|Commonmark plugin]] provides that.

 Unless or until I find a hack to make the wiki consider every page as if it is markdown, unfortunately when you edit a section of a page the parser doesn't see that and so doesn't render markdown; a workaround for that is to temporarily copy that tag into a page section you edit when you click "preview." You can do this with a "Markdown Docytype" button which the plugin adds to the end of the editor buttons row.
